What is the shortest distance/travel time from Nashville International Airport to Pigeon Forge, TN?
My family and I will be flying to Nashville this Sunday (12/19/2010) and will have to drive to Pigeon Forge. Every site I view says it's about 4-5 hours, but the construction alerts are from 2006-2008. Is there anything we need to worry about (i.e. detours)?

I don't know of any current detours. I don't believe any major ones are in place. 4 to 5 hours sounds about right. A huge word of warning though. If there is so much as a trace of ice or snow Tennessee is short on equipment to treat the roads, especially in some of the rural stretches between Nashville and Knoxville and Knoxville to Pigeon Forge in the mountains.

www.mapquest.com shows 3 and 1/2 hours from the airport. However, we have had a lot of snow and have more snow, freezing rain, and sleet forecast. Because there is usually a sheet of ice under all that snow, traveling gets really slow.
